Have had the iPad for about a month now, and absolutely lovin it.

Been shopping around for quality games, and I've only ended up with puzzle/casual games. So I think a thread for game recommendations for the device would be cool.

So far I've got tetris(iPhone), angry birds(iPhone), doodle jump(iPhone), bird strike(iPhone) , Prince of Persia(original) and Multi-Pong.

Prince of Persia and multi-pong are great and fairly polished.

I am looking for some point n click games specifically. I almost downloaded the Sam & Max game, but the reviews cited bugs and graphical glitches.

Any recommendation for quality titles ?

Cheers

Plants vs. Zombies is most excellent.
Words with Friends HD is what you'd expect.
Scrabble with the iPhone tile racks, as has been said, is the best $1,800 version of Scrabble you will ever play.
Warpgate HD lies fallow. It's not bad or anything, its more that I'd rather play Escape Velocity and it'd rather be Escape Velocity.
I've enjoyed Battle for Wesnoth, and it's been lovingly produced and updated, but I haven't felt like attacking the learning curve.

Enigmo and muBlip are quite fun.

I know these aren't point and click games but I highly recommend Monkey Ball and Labyrinth.

Along with the games already listed, I play a fair amount of We Rule. Sure, it can be boring and has the stain of Farmville all over it, but its a nice way to pass the time every so often.

*ahem*

Firemint Real Racing is a personal favorite on iPhone, and it's excellently done on iPad, as well.

I know, I was tempted to get the Mac version, but I have a feeling that it would be a let down after seeing the iPad demo.

I love playing games on my iPad. I tend to have a short attention span, so if it's not fun, I ditch it quickly.

Here are a few I find that I play a lot:

Doodle Bomb (iPhone game, but plays great on the iPad, and it's free right now)
Zombieville USA My kids love this side scrolling shooter
Zombie Attack Second Wave One of the more expensive games I bought ($4), but it's a great time waster, and it's a lot of fun. Basically tower defense, but with zombies and guns. There's a free version if you want to try it out, which is how I got hooked.

I'll update the list later when I am at home and can actually look at my iPad
Mac Pro 2x 2.66 GHz Dual core, Apple TV 160GB, two Windows XP PCs

Plants vs Zombies is totally addictive.

I haven't paid for much more (iPad is borrowed) so the rest are the free stuff like air hockey and pacman lite.

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
Monkey Island 2 Special Edition

Those two should keep you busy for a while.

Osmos has been released for the iPad. It looks good, but I haven't tried it yet.

Ooh.

It didn't show up on an app store search yesterday, when I posted that.

Nice.

I wonder if I could use that to justify an iPad… hmmm.

Downloaded and played it for about an hour today. Loving it so far. Some of the later levels are quite challenging.

WARNING: Don't click on the Trophy menu on the home screen. It crashes the game every time.

The sam and max game was on the app store for a special price of 1.99 the other day. So I downloaded it.

First impressions:
-it is a "full game" as opposed to the casual stuff.
-the writing is great as with the other ports of the title.
-the "virtual joystick" controls are ..... Not great(but acceptable)
-the frame rate lags regularly, which is very annoying. I think the engine or the art needs to be optimized further, or the design of the visuals needs to be revamped for the platform.

So far it's a mixed bag, the writing and content is top notch, the delivery not so much. (they have not been able to bring over any other episodes this season, because apparently they are more graphically intense).

I downloaded monkey island 2 lite, and after a few minutes with the game, I think that is thus far the best implementation of the point-n-click genre on the platform. The controls are what you'd expect them to be, and the visuals are the best I've seen on a device of this callable. The revamped art is stunning, and a great way to show off the system, IMHO.

Cheers

Check out "Earth Defender"(by fishlabs), it's an iPhone game, but looks and plays great on the iPad as well. Highly addictive, very polished.

Only complaint: too short... I want more.

World Of Goo now available for iPad. (AUD$12.99)

I already own this game on my Wii, but seeing as how i use my iPad wayyy more than my Wii, i decided to get it for iPad as well.

I'd like to see Braid on the iPad as well.

Cheers

Yeah, I'm thinking of picking up World of Goo. The reviews have been pretty good so far.

There are a bunch of EA games on sale for a $1. Picked up a few. Definitely worth it.

I was thinking of getting an iCade ($99), along with the Atari catalogue ($14.99).

However, the reviews are pretty terrible. That's with the touch screen though. Perhaps having an iCade is mandatory to make these games playable.

Pacman was incredibly frustrating without a joystick.

I've just started Sword and Sworcery, it's got simplistic graphics, but yet is very clever and very touch-oriented.
