If you love/hate a game enough to write up a full review, please post it in the iPhone Apps forum: iPhone Apps - MacNN Forums

Mine is currently Tilt To Live. Fast paced, simple, varied powerups and a sense of humor (mostly related to Awards). It's a couple bucks, although I got it for free awhile back.

What game is currently occupying your time on your iPhone/iPod Touch or iPad?

Free App a Day is killing me! Too many great games.

Doodle Jump is up there, but I haven't played it as much lately.

Tilt to Live is awesome, but I get too frustrated with it.

I just started getting into Mega Jump. It's like a much faster version of Doodle Jump. Little red monster jumping on coins. What could be better?

I also like Jump O'Clock. Like a vertical jumping version of Ratchet and Clank (without the crazy guns).

Steve

Angry Birds. Angry Mother****ing Birds. So... frustrating... yet so awesome...

I just bought The Incident today, so I'll be screwing around with that later tonight.

My wife has the iPhone in the family, but I get to play games on it...I played Zen Bound Lite last night. Very different idea of a "game". It's the first free game that has me interested in buying the full version.

OK, I just tried Angry Birds Lite...and I don't see the whole appeal. Besides the fact that you can't see your target for flinging the birds (I'm on iPod Touch; I'm guessing you can see the targets on iPad), it's hit or miss how you aim. Also, it's just yet another item flinging game. I've tried a bunch of them on the store and they're just not interesting.

Can anybody enlighten me on why this game is so popular?

Plants vs Zombies
Canabalt
Mirror's Edge

They say acceptance is the first step ... but that just made me play more.

Hint 1:

It's not "hit or miss how you aim".
In fact, it's totally controllable - force and angle are freely variable.
Blame the game's randomness on your lack of skill.

Hint 2:

You may have just quit before it got any more complex than throwing three birds at a box of wood with a pig in it, but it takes increasing amounts of puzzling to figure out how to use the different types of birds to strategically weaken portions of the enemy "fortresses" to get through the level with the birds you have available.

seconded.

Right now I try to figure out how to get 3 stars in every Angry Birds level - I'm almost done but there is one level where I don't even know how to get more than 1 star... very frustrating (and addicting)!

I get bored with iOS games fairly quickly (although Angry Birds kept my attention for a while). Right now I'm playing The Incident.

That seems to be the darling of the moment.

The demo video kind of turned me off. Looks way too hard.

Not hard at all IMO. And way simpler than I thought it was going to be.

Godfinger. I loved it.
Too unstable on iOS 4, or at least my phone. I gave up trying to play. Stuck at level 20-something.

Can anyone tell me what I have to do in Osmos in the Precision level 5/8 where there are only 2 spheres rotating around the "sun"?

edit: I just found it out and completed the level...

What gave you the idea it was going to be hard?

I'm curious purely from a marketing standpoint. I think it's odd it's giving off such a wrong impression.

I didn't ever think it was going to be hard, just thought it was going to be a bit more than a simple tilt and jump game. But it's a lot of fun.

The only reason I think people may be getting the impression that it's hard is because it has a retro look. And since games in the past didn't have the "auto-heal" that every single game seems to have these days, they're looked at as harder.

Oh... gotcha. I was reading too much into your original post.

That definitely could add to it. The demo adds to it by only showing failure states.

Here's a big jump... Oh, you missed... KLONK!

I'll have to double-check what my Plus+ name is, but I believe it's the same as my Xbox 360 gamertag, MechWolfOSX, if you want to check out my planet. I just started it about a week ago.

I am using Words With Friends, a version of Scrabble. One can have as many games as one desires going with different opponents all the time. I find it addictive!
