It seems as though when I type an email in Mac Mail, reply or new mail, it takes a moment for the letters typed to catch up with my typing speed. So much so that it is really annoying.

This is on a MacBook Pro 2.8 GHZ, 4GB, 320 7,200 RPM running the latest OS.

This delay in letters appearing only happens in Mail, no other app.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

How long has this been going on?
Also open up Font Book and see if you have any font duplicates.
