....600 MHz, bought inn 2002? I stumbled across an ebay auction of a machine with dead logic board, all other parts still working (checked by a dealer, according to the seller). This would be a perfect one for my mother, but it makes no sense, if i can´t get a replacement logic board for that machine. And btw, how much would be a replacement?

Yes. It looks like it's around $300 for the 600mhz. The 700mhz is $350.

It might be worth getting the 700mhz one instead as it's much faster and has a better video chip.
edit: it looks like they are out of stock. Try to google for it, i'm sure you will find some...
