It makes sense: I think a lot of LPers do live twitch streams then edit the content for YouTube. This gets google in the door a step early.

Considering their traffic with gamers, it does make sense, but the number is still amazing.

I wonder if views of gaming/gamer stuff on YouTube is higher than we imagine. I would have thought that music vids would come first, but I wonder what the 2nd placed category is.

Take a look at the list of top YouTubers, specifically the king of YouTube: Meet the YouTube gamer who has more subscribers than Justin Bieber | The Verge. And The Verge's linked story from the Atlantic: This Guy Makes Millions Playing Video Games on YouTube - Christopher Zoia - The Atlantic.

YouTube is absolutely full of gamers.

The same people who use youtube to listen to music, use it to watch LPers.

I think the top gamer channel is pewdiepie who has 26 million subs on youtube. His latest video has 1.4 million views in 20 hrs.

Incredible, never knew about pewdiedie. I have been watching stuff for CoD and Battlefield for a while but never realised the money generated by gaming vids.

Are your kids old enough to seek out content on youtube? I feel like you might have had the best examples sitting at home.

Yes, my daughter (10) looks at horsey stuff and music vids. They don't do much gaming.

There is that. One time I let them watch me playing Skyrim. They still recount how my head rolled off over a cliff when I got killed.

Mrs. Mattyb was not impressed.

My son (6) wants to play BF4 though.
