Was Saturday night that bad? I don't remember much about the end. Apparently I made some achievements in L4D and Gears 2 though.

I would've too.
The Boomer last night was ridiculous. The spawn cycle seemed too short, and we never heard him approach.

I also have no idea how you guys survived the 3 downing in the finale.

Yeah I seriously thought it was over at that point. Whoever was the tank had a hard time getting to the last guy on our team. By the time he had our guy cornered, the tank was pretty much dead.

It's crazy how close you are allowed to spawn to near the survivors. I would be just outside the house and spawn on the other side of the wall. Then I would peek in the window and puke on you guys before you could hear me.

I was the tank. Part of the reason I lasted so long was I hit guy number 4 out the window and into the cornfield. I guess the downside was he healed before coming up to rescue you guys.

I had two of the longest runs ever with the tank last night. The run on chapter 3 was also legendary.

I won't be on until 10pm EST at the earliest. Gotta setup my new Time Capsule first. I don't know about my brother yet. I'm sure Rumor would be willing to fill in. Just don't count on Fatty. We all know how obsessed he is with Fallout 3 at right now.

Hilarious, the lot of ya.

Surprisingly I'm trying this new thing, hanging out with human beings, possibly ingesting some sort of fermented hops and barely too.
If, by the time I get back, you guys are still on I'll definitely join. I'm really looking forward to what looks to be Zombie Horde mode coming soon, right?

I'll be on tonight. I still need to get the All 4 Dead achievement that we gave to Fatty the other night. That's the only infected achievement I have remaining.

BTW, guess who finally got his Stop Punch achievement?

I'll hop on later. I'm trying to get the CrOwnD achievement, which I have failed to do so several times.
I did get some things done, but I have quite a few remaining.

So I missed the half off Steam sale.

Some dude on CL is selling the retail DVD version of L4D for PC for $35 dollars.

Assuming I get it, will I still be able to multi play, etc. Or is there something else I need to make sure that he signs over to me.

Sorry (I haven't done FPS in a long time...so I don't know if L4D servers are free or if I need an account or what).

And I'm at work so I can't check any gaming sites/FAQs. Darn content filters

I wouldn't buy it. The CD key is bound to a Steam account in order to play and then can't be unbound unless the Steam gods happen to take mercy on your soul.

So that's where I don't get it.

You get a Steam account even though it is physical media?

see

http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/tag/1055133565.html

also I guess I could be suspicious and say that it was RE-shrink wrapped?

I usually don't post the xbox live weekly ranks, but this week's results really bothered me.

Xbox 360 Top Live Titles (based on UU’s)
1 Halo 3
2 Call of Duty: WaW
3 Call of Duty 4
4 Gears of War 2
5 GTA IV
6 Halo Wars
7 Left 4 Dead
8 Halo Wars demo
9 FIFA 09
10 STREET FIGHTER IV

What does it take to kill Gears? The forums are awash in complaints about increased quitting and cheating, mass bickering over the few combat changes made, yet week after week it comes in locked at 4, even in the face of the new GTA DLC or the superior multiplayer experience of L4D (which has seen a small resurgence since the patch). Not even the Halo IP can dethrone it (though somehow Halo Wars manages to double-up on the list thanks to the demo).

I just can't believe it.

(Hope you enjoyed this Dakar Editorial/Rant)

PC fixes, a glimpse into the console future:
Versus Mode Changes

Tank melee attack can now hit multiple Survivors in one swing

Fixed Tank punch being able to hit targets behind walls

Fixes to 'Tank parking'. The Tank will now run back and attack the Survivors if he becomes AI due to two players expiring the frustration meter

Fixed a case where a Tank frustration meter could run out right as he was in his death animation and he would come back to life

Fixed a case where the Tank was moving too slowly while crouching and being shot

Tanks now have the possibility of spawning in a slightly different position for the first and second teams

The order that the teams play as Survivors is now determined by which team has the higher overall score. The winning team will play as Survivors first

The Smoker tongue can now target and grab victims through common infected

Increased the cone in which a Smoker can grab a target

The Witch no longer cuts Smoker tongues in a radius around her

Boomers that explode in mid-air will now hit Survivors directly below them with Bile

Reduced the damage that burning Hunters do to pounced victims

Adjusted the time at which players take over from bots to avoid 5 seconds of the bot standing idle while the player finishes connecting.

Fixed some cases where versus score was not being recalculated properly. It is no longer beneficial to pass pills between players at the end of the round or heal other players and then shoot them

Fixed a case where it was possible to spectate an AI infected and hit +use to take them over
Does anyone have a good explanation of what exactly tank parking is?

IIRC, as the Tank, you run off to a place where the survivors aren't and just let the frustration meter run out. Then the AI takes over, but the AI's instinct in that case is to wait there huffing and puffing until a survivor walks in front of it — you'll see the same thing sometimes in campaign mode. This allows you to have the Tank do ninja attacks by parking him in places nobody expects.

I've never done it, but I think that's the strategy they're talking about.

Stogie, I just noticed you managed to get the no friendly-fire achievement. How did you manage that.

Played a tough team last night. Real pricks, pulling every trick from the book (they constantly set their hunters on fire and such), but what really took the cake was we blew Chapter 4 of No Mercy when all 4 of us were in the green, tank appears, and swipes a forklift and incapacitates three of us (including me, who was way to the right and on elevated ground) in one swipe. Stomach punch worthy.

Did you see the red mist achievement as well.
I got the safety first achievement by playing single player campaign on easy. You don't have to worry about other players screwing up because the bots never friendly fire. I used the hand gun and meleed all the way through No Mercy. FYI, when a tank approaches just run away and let the bots kill him. Trying to kill a tank with a shotgun prevented me from getting this achievement a couple of times.

I find the stomach upset achievement is almost impossible to get on No Mercy. The other night I got all the way to the very end without getting vomited on. We had just defeated the first tank and all four of us were on the roof with the chain gun. A boomer usually climbs up the ladder on the left side and vomits on someone so we kept our distance from that area. Sure enough a boomer pops his head up. Right before a bot shoots him, a smoker grabs Francis and starts dragging him towards the boomer. The boomer explodes and covers Francis with bile. Achievement lost.

Slick shoes?! Are you crazy?!
