If you have enough ram it will run better than panther, but each widget takes up about 10 megs or real memory. 768 will be enough though. You definetly want ram though, in some ways my imac g3 450 is faster than my ibook g4 800 because my ibook only has 256 megs of ram. I definitely need an upgrade.

Original iMac 233. Woot! This thing is speedier than I expected, mouse tracking is faster than my 800 iMac G4. Maybe time to replace that apple optical with a puck.

Tons of props to you man. My family just finally got a new eMac, and gave our old 233 to our uncle. Its still a good computer. So many memories. So many days playing Myth II....

Thanks, but I don't use it. I was zeroing the hard drive so I can give it away. I figured why not throw panther on there and see how it works. It handled X a lot better than I expected, not quite snappy though. My biggest complaint is reading the super bubble screen after using an LCD for so long. This will do for me until I get the bug to finally buy an ibook or PC:

I just booted up after installing 2 GB of RAM in my new 20" iMac, so I thought now would be a good time to contribute. I can't imagine having Matching Ghz and GB is something that happens often over the history of computing:
