C'mon, where else can you get such a crazy intersection of entertainment, family, law, religion, sex, and politics in one place?
(Like clown cars you should also not be playing with one if its not yours)

I should hope these people realize the hypocrisy of their ways, but am not holding my breath. They are likely to double-down on their rhetoric.
I'm also astounded at the framing of their statements... Very little about the victims and how they cared for their recovery.

What I've read is the Quiverfull movement is big on patriarchy. Basically, the girls (victims) are practically blamed more than the accused.

Which is begging the question (the real kind).
If the patriarchy is in charge, whose fault is it when their daughters turn out to be trollops?

All that effort to only side-hug (because front hugs lead to sin). The solution is no hugs, of course.

I forgot about the side-hugs. I'd say who is afraid that front hugs will arouse siblings, but considering this case...

Also, one of the more shocking facts is since that photo, five more kids fell out of the clown car.

To be fair, with that many kids, wouldn't at least one of them be statistically likely to end up a pedophile?

First reaction: To................be fair?
Second reaction: 1/19 is roughly 5%. The US Population is 319,000,000. 5% of that is ~16,000,000 pedophiles. There are ~800,000 registered sex offenders, not all of which are pedophiles.

Kardashians, Duggars, Honey Boo Boo, I wish all of this family-driven, reality TV bull*hit drama would die already.

I've seen too many people categorize the attraction for young, post-pubescents as pedophilia (which is bogus), when in reality it's just normal human biology. Men are naturally attracted to healthy younger women as a means of more effectively passing their genetics. It's one of the most basic human motivations. Is it right? Not within our modern society, where the law is clear on age of consent, but it's easy to see how people can run afoul of such things when you look at it all objectively.
There's a girl at our local library, works part-time, who is as hot as 100 blazing suns; 6' tall and a near-perfect cross between Charlize Theron and Angie Jolie (Swedish, French, Cherokee hybrid), a real stunner... but she's 15 years old. They've been adding something to the water lately, I guess, because girls in my HS never looked like her. I've caught my gaze lingering on her a little too long when I'm around. Damn you, biology!

TLC deserves an award for having two shows that had pedophiles on them. That's what you get for scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Pet peeve of mine, but in this case, it's entirely accurate. The youngest was 5.

Even if Josh and his sister were of an age, it would still be unwanted assault. And even if it were consensual, it would still be ew.
Perhaps the better question, Capt, is if Josh would have deviated this way, if he'd had more normally-directed outlets for his hormones and perhaps a better education on sexuality.

i.e, if he could experiment like a normal teenager with a girl his own age without being watched like a hawk, maybe he wouldn't turn to the only girls he could be unsupervised with? Not a bad theory.

That you're looking to confirm your bias against it? A few high-profile failures and scumbags aren't indicative of what's going on within an entire movement... or so I was told in the P&N forum.

I didn't say it was the entire movement. Just that the high-profile people seem to have a failure rate that exceeds their moral beliefs by a wide margin.

Well, you asked, "What does it say about the the conservative family values movement... ". A guess the answer is, "not much". We all know of catastrophic failures in "leadership" within every ideological group, because at some point anyone can fail to live up to expectations. And as sure as they do, right on cue, people from across the aisle are going to tear into the movement like a pack of hyenas going after a wounded bison.

That's a conclusion to jump to. Actually I was thinking about Shaun King, the most recent victim (I guess you can call him that) and thought you might make reference to him. It goes in all directions, you know.

Yep.
He fraudulently applied for, and received, an Oprah scholarship as a black person and has identified as black ever since he turned 18, despite the fact both of his parents are white (Dolezal syndrome). So, as an activist who claimed you should always stand up and be proud of who and what you are, he's a huge hypocrite. So that would make him a scammer and an imposter. Does that automatically cast down the black rights movement? No, it doesn't.

I guess I missed that part of his repertoire. As far as police injustice and BLM, I don't think it changes his validity; if anything it would highlight hypocrisy in those who believed in him because of his race.

It's probably associated with escalated extremism within the far-Left. I'm encountering a rapidly growing number of Progressive, Social Justice wankers of late and they're becoming increasingly intolerable.

Read his book "The Power of 100" sometime (I did a few months ago). Essentially everything in the first half of it; the racial bigotry he claims he faced, growing up as a person of "mixed race", is a complete fiction.

I guess the heightened extremism of the tea party and right-ward shift of the GOP is too blasé. And they, you know, actually have clout.

The tea party is essentially dead, and if gay acceptance is any indication (and I believe it is) the Right is moving more toward the center.

In terms of gov't recognition of ethnicity (grants, scholarships, and various programs for minorities), it's 50%. 25% wouldn't cut it, even if it's true.
Edit: One exception is you can qualify for casino revenues if you're able to prove 1/4 Native American ethnicity, but I believe you need to live on the reservation where the casino is located.

That's true as an organization. The anti-establishment undercurrent, the immigrant hatred, they are alive and well. Hence, Trump.

Not watching the GOP debates? I wouldn't call most of their positions "acceptance".

I don't believe that some of the GOP candidates for POTUS are indicative of conservatives as a whole, polls show that there is a substantial shift to the center, despite what some on the Left claim.

I agree with it, to be of a certain race you should genetically be at least 50% a part of that race.

OTOH, though it happens rarely, and only when I've worked up a serious tan, I've had people ask if I was black, which I guess you could find in some small fraction of my Sicilian grandmother. Everything else is much whiter.

It's less about "failures" and more about "hypocrisy". Doing exactly the thing you're campaigning against. Like pro-lifers getting abortions or natural weight loss advocates getting bariatric surgery. Have notable pro-choice advocates secretly kept babies? Have notable gay rights advocates had secret heterosexual sex in airport bathrooms?

There's hypocrisy all around; Left, Right, and Center. If you set anyone up on a pedestal, at some point they will disappoint you.

Not the argument being made. You're trying to make two positions of unequal power a moral issue when the point is the influence they have.
