I've just found a photo processor that requires me to send in prepared images at 402 PPI. Is there any way of doing this with iPhoto that I've missed or is there some freeware you'd recommend?

I know Photoshop et al can do this but I want to test the lab first so don't want to spend £$£$ to do so.

Here's a free way to accomplish your goal. Not an iPhoto solution but darn good.

Find a different photo processor, preferably one that understands the industry they claim to be part of.

There is no reason for them to 'require' that resolution. They can feel free to 'recommend' it, but it is not a technical necessity.
