my problem is when booting from CD (diskwarrior, techtools, or norton DD) finder quits.

the system used is a 9.1 update downloaded from ZDNet.

conflict catcher has been run and what it identifies as the problem when removed from the extensions lineup changes nothing during a startup from CD. finder still unexpectedly quits.

PRAM has been reset, desktop rebuilt, yet when startuping from a CD finder still unexpectedly quits.

what do you guys think? all help appreciated.

ps. a complimentary disorder is that on occasion, on restart all I get is a gray screen, no happy face mac. it resolves itself after a few more improper restarts or when the plug is pulled and re-connected.

Can you boot from the System CD?

Also have you added anything new to your machine? like a Ram, another HD or a PCI/IDE card, etc, etc.
