4200 RPM. If Hitachi releases 120 GB drives this year like they are supposed to, I'll be buying one of them and ditching this 80. No use in dropping more money on a drive I'll be chucking.

What are the major options for upgrading a Powerbook hard drive? I read somewhere that laptop drives (the 2.5" ones) don't really get any bigger than 100 GB. Is this true? Also, I assume the reduced RPM on most 2.5" drives has to do with power conservation. What kind of effect does going to a faster drive have on battery life? (10% reduction, 50% reduction?)

I wondered the same. Necrocool, how much did your battery life decrease when you put in your 7200 rpm drive? What did you have before that?

The battery life decrease is minimal as explained more clearly in this article: http://www.tomshardware.com/storage/20030813/index.html
I'd say I see no noticeable battery life decrease, it used to run 3:30 - 4 hours for my usage style and still lasts that long. Mine has a large catch of 16MB, so that might also helps saving battery life by keeping it from constantly accessing the physical disk.
