today my mom was cleaning her closet, and she found a lot of saving bonds, well, she counted them up, and they total to almost 9 grand! this means that the rest of the house is paid off for, and we'll still have a little over 3 grand left over for whatever. just wanted to tell you all how excited we both are, and such. anyone else have any experiences like this?

Found some collectable cards selling in a New Zealand shop for less than $2.00 (after currency conversion) and here I was able to sell them for nearly $50 a pack. I bought all forty something the store had, and sold almost all upon my arrival back here. Thats a bit of a profit (percentage wise at least )

Also found a lot of really old (1800's) bottles buried a fair distance behind my house. Some worth upwards of $100, a couple even up to around $500 in the condition they are in. Many are junk though too.
yep.

I found my wifes grandfathers diaries with weather observations from the area around Quedlinburg (former DDR) during the 2nd World War - he was a farmer in a small village there...

A total of 5 years of weather observations!
The gene pool needs cleaning - I'll be the chlorine.

Excellent point: everything above the purchase price of those bonds is taxable income. Do NOT forget that (or let Mom forget it) when tax time rolls around next year. It could make a big difference.

Otherwise, COOL!
