A friend of mine told me [see subject line above]. Yet I have not been able to find any documentation of this from Apple or third parties. Anyone else heard this rumour? If so, what exactly does the upgrade do to improve video performance?

I haven't heard that it upgrades Pismo video performance, but I have heard that it improves Wallstreet II video performance.

If Apple was going to write a video driver boost for any older Powerbook, it should be the Pismo.

No, there is no improvement for PISMO video performance with 10.2.4.

I haven't heard about Pismo's, but it is rumored to include some level of hardware acceleration for the old Lombards with the Rage LT Pro graphics chip (and possibly Wallstreets as well if they have that same chip). There were some anecdotal posts about this at http://www.pbzone.com/, I haven't really tested it on my old Lombard yet since it's strictly a music jukebox these days.
