Apple Store San Francsico Press Conference

On a separate front, sources claim that Apple will most likely hold a press conference outside its latest flagship store sometime after 10:00am PST today. Security personnel have reportedly blocked parking around store to prepare for the conference.

The store, located in Union Square at One Stockton Street in San Francisco, will open on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. PST.

Did it happen? It's past 10:30 now there. If it did happen, what was it about?

Apple Computer staged a press event Thursday to show off its latest store, the "hometown" shop the company has been waiting to open for four years.

So that's it? Meh. I was hoping for a product announcement.

Well, there's a cafe next door to the Apple Store in Emeryville, CA. Patrons can easily access the AirPort network broadcast from the Apple Store. So, in effect... yes.

By the way, San Francisco has many, many independent cafe's with free WiFi access (as long as you purchase a cup of coffee or something). But I guess people can always pay $$ for the same pleasure if they don't mind being seen at a Starbucks (but I just don't see the point).

So I wonder what goodies were in those $250 grab bags (supposedly worth $600).

From appleturns.com:

"...one of which contained "an iSight camera, a Bluetooth USB adapter, a Bluetooth mouse, Apple's Keynote presentation software, a package for the .Mac online services, and a 10 percent discount card for the store" for $249."

I guess no press conference meant that there is nothing to annouce!
