Version Cue and the pref pane will not run on my iMac CD. But, the app installed an icon in my menubar. Normally, I'd use the pref pane, but since it wont run...

What file do I need to trash to get this out of the menu bar?
Can I reset the entire menubar?

TIA

Have you tried command-dragging it out?

Chuck, that ONLY works on Apple-created menu items.

Go to Systems preferences - select the Version Cue icon under 'other' double click to open and at the bottom of the window 'settings' un-check the 'Show Version Cue CS2 Status in menu bar' option.

Just noticed you can't access the prefs - sorry!!!!

Command-dragging won't work. The only way I know how is turning it off through the prefpane. Maybe there's a plist for Version Cue that you can edit and log out and log back in and see it it goes away.

If you have the install CDs you should re-install Version Cue (assuming it lets you. I wanted to re-install Photoshop CS 2 and it wouldn't let me until I deleted every trace of Photoshop off my system first).

look in /Library/Preference Panes and delete anything to do with version cue. Do the same in /Library/StartupItems and /Applications This should remove all parts of version cue that matter and prevent the icon from re-appearing after reboot. Of course, this will also disable version cue. (Which I assume is what you want?)

Thanks everyone.

I deleted the files (above) and all seems to be well. BTW, I had not heard any news of VC, or any part of the CS2 suite, not working on Intel Macs.

No 3rd party preference panes will work on Intel macs unless they are re-compiled using XCode.
