I'm previewing a bunch of photos I took of antiques yesterday (for a client's website) in Preview so I can throw out the bad shots. The problem is, Preview will take the actual picture and do some auto-adjustments of them before showing it, you can catch preview doing this if you open a photo, for a split second you'll see the raw photo, and then you'll see a softened copy of it.

How can I stop that? Or, is there any freeware out there I can use to preview?

I could do this in photoshop, however, there are 268 shots to go through, and its much quicker to open them all in preview and cycle through them than open a few at a time in Photoshop.

thanks in advance.

What you're describing is when Preview does a quick 'n dirty image resize so the images show up faster, but then re-scales the images using it's best scaling algorithm.

You have Preview set to scale images to the size of the window. Open up Preview’s preferences, go to the Image tab, and change Default Image Size to actual size. However, if these photos are larger than your screen, which they probably are, this might not do you any good.

Alternatively you could try using another image viewer that does not resize twice, I'm sure there's a bunch on MacUpdate.
