Is there a way to list the files on my hard drive by file size? I have 22 gb of music on my Mac but there are about 40 gb of "other" files and I want to see if I can make some room by deleting old large files.

check out Disk Sweeper
Does exactly what your asking. Please note that there's two flavors of this app, a freeware that lists the files and a paid version that allows you to delete the files from within the app. For the price they're asking I don't see it worth the functionality but the free version is a very handly little app.

If your not afraid to use terminal, issue this command from your home directory or whereever you want to start.
ls -lRS | more
The l's are both lower case L's not a 1.
This comand will list all files in all directories. Within each directory the files will be sorted in descending order by file size. The space bar will go forward one screen. The letter b will go back one screen. q will quit.
If you do
ls -lRS > myfiles.txt
It will create a file you can look at with textedit.
It is a lot to look through but really big files will stand out.

WhatSize is nearly identical to Disk Sweeper and is free.

I just tried WhatSize and it seems superior to Disk Sweeper.
