I got three desktop icons that i'd love to get rid of
- the Mac OSX hard drive
- the Windows XP harddrive (just installed with bootcamp)
- the idisk icon
How do you do that?
I went to the idisk preferences. I tried to disable some feature but would have to log in. However i have cancelled my .Mac account about 24h hours after i paid the $99 and I got reimbursed... The preferences panel asks me to "rejoin" each time i click on a tab and the boxes to un/checked are greyed out.

Go into the Finder, then Preferences (under the word 'Finder') .... then untick 'Show these items on the Desktop'
(Edit: three minutes too late....)

You can also just "hide" those icons, rather than removing them completely, with a program like Camouflage, which can hide all your desktop icons with the touch of a key. It also allows you to quickly change your desktop wallpaper. And best of all, it's FREE! There are other apps that do this, but I like Camouflage for the price and simplicity.
