Ok, so here at the college, they ordered an Apple Mobile Cart Lab/Cart and for myself, was the first time seeing one. Looked them up online but first time to see one and get an idea what one looks like and how it gets setup/used.

I took some snapshots of the cart that came in and put a few laptops of the 20+ that were purchased for the cart.

The laptops just slide in, and you plug in the power adapter that comes with the laptop. At first I thought the power was going to be built in and rather than having to use the adapter that came with the laptops. Anyways, the cabinet locks and it comes with a couple boxes to store the extra power adapter cables and what ever else you may have.

Anyways, though I'm sure others have either seen one or seen them online, figured I'd post some pics as I have never seen one myself.

I will have to take a couple more once I unpack the rest of the laptops.

The reason it was purchased is so that if we run into the issue here at the campus that a lab is needed last second or just gets booked where there are no computers, then we just need to roll this cart into the room and hand out the laptops.

Third-Party gear to protect them? Do you mean stuff such as security locks, theft tracking etc?

I actually had in mind something like Invisible Shield to protect the computers from sign of use, or something like that.

Looks like a basic laptop cart to me, they are pretty popular in most schools, we have 1 or 2 of them at school, but filled with dells and not macs.

LOL I am working at my high school over the summer, and for the past two weeks have been imaging and putting together those exact carts. Same cabinet and all!

It's not like you'll benefit from using a mac when all you're doing is writing papers and doing basic internet research for an hour or so during class. Any modern laptop can handle that just fine.
