It's so cool to see this list. I was 5 in 1997 and I would watch VH1 CONSTANTLY. I know most all of these songs. It's kinda cool how the 90s is the one decade where most people who were "aware" remember all of the hits.

Oh and my votes go to "Ants Marching" by Dave Matthews, "Losing My Religion" by R.E.M., "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks, and most of the top 100 list...

The neat thing is many of the songs are cheesy but they do bring back fond memories. Other songs are still kick ass and also bring back memories.

agreed with some here, the 90's were a long, segmented period of time for me. I had middle school, high school, college, and real life all happen in that 10 years.

Too many picks but one thing is for absolute certain: Third Eye Blind sucks really hard.

You're just pissed I keep stock with the tick-tock rhythm. I bump for the drop, and then I bumped up. I took the hit that I was given, then I bumped again, then I bumped again.

I saw 3rd Eye Blind live as a music festival. It was pretty obvious they were not going anywhere. They had one or two catchy songs but sucked hard in concert. My most stark memory is that the lead gutairst clearly thought he was in a hair metal band- all spandex and big hair.

Gosh.

Björk, Bowie, Massive Attack, Mono, Moloko, Jamiroquai, Die Fantastischen Vier, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Portishead, Nightmares on Wax, plus Laid Back's "Baker Man" - how the hell are you supposed to pick ONE SONG?

You say this like it's a bad thing.

How do I get back there to the place where I fell asleep inside you how do I get myself back to the place where you said I want something else ...

Oh, has anyone mentioned the Gin Blossoms? I saw the twice live and they ROCKED! Very energetic.

Once was actually when they played for the construction crew on the Best Buy headquarters during a lunch break. I just happened to be visiting a friend who live a block away, hear a band and thought :my, that's a good cover of a GB song." Then another good cover, then another. It dawned on me I better trace the location of the sound of this awesome GB cover band. Didn't take long and I stumbled onto the back lot at Best Buy HQ.

The other time was at the former Pine Knob near Pontiac, MI. The Spin Doctors opened and luckily they didn't force me to spear my ear drums out and I was able to rock to the Gin Blossoms.

Good times...

FWIW, I've always preferred their other 3 big singles ("How's It Going to Be," "Jumper," and "Never Let You Go").

SpaceMonkey mentioned "Hey Jealousy," which I definitely consider their best song.
