Some users are
reporting problems launching the latest version of the Podcasts app for iOS devices, saying it will crash a few seconds after launch under iOS version 7.1.1, the most recent update. The newest version of Podcasts was v2.1.2, released on
May 29. It's not yet clear if the problem might be rectified by users powering down the iOS device completely and restarting it -- a solution that cures nearly every misbehaving app problem.

MacNN iOS devices, both running the latest versions of Podcasts and iOS 7, did not show the issue.
Apple poaches fitness wearables engineer for 'iWatch'
According to a change in his LinkedIn profile, former senior software engineer of Atlas Wearables, a sports and fitness accessory company, as become a firmware developer on an unspecified product (likely to be Apple's health-oriented "iWatch"). Alex Hsieh jumped ship earlier this month and is currently working in Cupertino, reports
Network World. Hsieh, who was trained at Johns Hopkins, is thought to have been instrumental in creating Atlas' fitness tracking device, which combined the best features of fitness apps with a waterproof and sweatproof armband device that initially got its funding through Indiegogo.
The Atlas device was sold to investors on its extraordinary accuracy and ability to distinguish different types of exercises (such as the difference between backstroke and breast stroke while swimming). Hsieh's duties are not defined, but his background working with accurate sensors and aggragating fitness and medical data makes him a natural fit for the forthcoming "iWatch" product, speculation about which has evolved from the initial speculation of a "smartwatch" to something more health and sports-oriented in nature.
