The PowerMate is awesome! I use one at the office and at home with the Apple BT Mouse. Since the Apple BT Mouse is single button, and with all the debate that I've read, I decided to give the PowerMate a try. You can customize it to any application for each unique click and scroll. Plus it glows blue which is pretty.

IMO - it's worth every penny in my eyes.

I can't imaging using that thing. I mean do I really want to take my hand off the mouse to scroll?

If you use the Pro Mouse its great.

My main use for it now is as volume knob or to easily zoom in and out in photoshop.

So what's the deal? First you people keep bitchin' that you're sick of PowerMacs G4 and don't want to use the official PowerMac picture thread for your fancy, shiny new G5s... and now I see all of your pics in there.

Does somebody feel like explaining this to me or not? I feel like locking this thread right away but I'm gonna give you a chance to convince me not to.

Simple logic.

PowerMac pic thread: All PowerMacs including G4, G5, ...

This thread: Exclusively G5.

To each his thread.

What do we need two threads for? Just because it's the uber G5?
One thread is enough, what if somebody wants a thread exclusively for his G3 or Cube or MDD G4 or Sawtooth G4?

Ah common. There are so many crappy threads on this board that have zitch to do with Macs so we might as well tolerate a handful of picture threads, won't we?

The PM pic thread is crap. It's long as hell and most of the old pics are lost already. If you lock one it should be the old one. But hey, why? Pic threads are fun.

Yes one is for ALL Mac and one is just for the G5's cuz they will be around for YEARS and it will fill up.

Plus not ALL my picts are in the other thread, just one.

I use the PowerMate in conjunction with the Pro Mouse. The Pro Mouse is on the left side of the keyboard and the PowerMate on the right side. Since the PowerMate is like a volume dial, I don't ever take my left hand off the mouse.

Wow. Eat some fiber. You're all tense.

There should be a seperate G5 thread because the G5 is dramatically different than the anything we've had in years.

I am really surprised to see a moderator behaving with such animosity and threatening to lock a thread unless WE the forum members provide YOU a good enough reason not to.

The reason that it's the members that created this thread is good enough for me and it should be a good enough reason for you.

I know I couldn't believe it when I read that either. With all the junk floating around in this forum the one with G5 picts stresses him out.

Perhaps he is just upset that he only has a Rev A iMac

Well that would've been a good reason to be upset But it's not, I don't even have a Mac anymore, I'm running Debian Linux on an AMD Opteron.

I just don't see no point in having this extra thread. The argument that the G5 is so much different than anything we had in years is, well, I don't know what to say. So what if it's different, it's still a PowerMac and we don't need special threads for every new PowerMac. I can already see the "Official PowerMac G5 Rev.B picture thread" coming. But what you should know is that not even this thread is "official" in any way since it was not created by an Admin or Moderator.

PS: You can relax, I am not going to lock this thread. I had a talk with some of my colleagues here and we decided to keep it open as long as you keep it clean

I give Handras 4.8/5 for his setup and a further 4.8/5 for the beautiful photo.

I think I shall aspire to have such a stylish setup. Clean, effective, and of striking appearance. A true maconaut's workspace.

Thank you!

This is my first Mac setup, before this, I'm used over 10 year only windows PC... I'm very happy width my new Mac, and I never switch back PC!

Now I have a new Apple bluetooth keyboard (no more cable in my desk), and the next week arrives the new Klipsch GMX 2.1 (better design I think), and I want to move my cable modem, and tv tuner under my desk. I'll post a pic when this things is done.

Sorry for my bad english, I come from Hungary.

You dual Powermac/Powerbook owners make me cry. (jealous)

I'm just trying to jump in the Apple arena by getting the new iBook G4, but that's for another thread/area.

So far, if I may say, I think I like ckohler's setup the best because it's simplistic (and I like the creatures)... no offense to DeltaOP, but man you have way to much time/money to go out and get so much matching stuff. (again just jealous here)

Mighty fine looking machines.

Oh man, this thread is killing me. My duallie was supposed to arrive yesterday, but the brutal weather here stopped FedEx in its tracks. I have the whole weekend to scan threads like this, and think of what might have been.

Oh well, I'll have a new pic next week.

My dual is due to arrive on Tuesday. I got the great deal that was posted in another thread (BTO dual G5/Radeon 9800/1GB RAM for $2599 new from MacConnection), and with free ground shipping via Airborne it is scheduled for a Tuesday delivery.

A friend of mine is going to hang out at my house and call me at work when it arrives so I can come down with a cold or something

I don't imagine I'll be sleeping much Tuesday and Wednesday nights!

Some pics of my new machine's unveiling.

And some of my setup at home. Still tinkering with placement, but will likely end up with this one:

I had it up on the desk for a bit, but it didn't leave me with a whole lot of extra room.

Dual 2GHz PowerMac G5, 512MB RAM, 250GB HD, SuperDrive. Also a Viewsonic A90f+ 19" CRT. Damn I need to buy a new desk. Not crazy about the monitor either. There is a 10 day return policy on it, I'll probably end up getting an LCD. I just can't get the damn lines on this thing straight enough. I think I've been spoiled using LCDs...

I might have to bite the bullet and grab a 20" Cinema Display.
