Okay, I am a teacher and want to use either VNC or iTeleport in the classroom. I want to be able to launch the program on my ipad and use the SmartBoard while standing behind the students. Therefore, I need the program to let me draw with my finger and not just move the screen around. I have a friend that is using iTeleport and it works great. However VNC is out now and I was just wondering if anyone has used the paid version. I got the free version but I can not draw in the Smart Software, it just wants to move the screen around, there is no way to lock it. Please let me know if you have any experience with VNC or iTeleport, and let me know which is the better option. Thanks

I don't have any help for you, but that sounds like an impressive classroom.

Which VNC app are you referring to as "VNC"? I have the paid version of Mocha VNC on my iPad and can try some functionality if you wish.

Jailbreak your iPad. Don't worry, it doesn't do anything bad to your device like some people would want you to believe. And in any case, you can always go back by doing a Restore in iTunes. Plus, it's legal.
Anyway - after the jailbreak (done with limera1n, from limera1n.com), use Cydia to install "Display Out". It costs just $2.99, and you can do what Steve Jobs does at his keynotes: display EVERYTHING that runs on your iPad via the DockConnector-to-VGA adapter onto a projector (without jailbreak, the adapter will just let you show photo slideshows, videos and Keynote presentations over VGA). Then just get your favorite whiteboard or doodle app from the App Store and work your magic. That's how I do it, and it just works.

Jeronimo2000, nice idea, but that's not what was asked for.
The OP wants to VNC to (presumably) a PC running the smart board software from his/her iPad. That gives them the option to walk around the room with their iPad and update the smart board display. This is not an issue of displaying the output of an iPad app.
