I hate it when someone installs something on my machine without asking.

Just after installing the 10.6.6 OS X update I found an app store icon in my dock.

What the frog!

I don't have an iPhone, nor an iPad. So it wasn't me who installed it there, and it was there just after the update.

Baaaad idea, Apple !

I guess you missed the news.
There is now a MacOS app store that sells applications for desktop Macs.
The primary purpose of the 10.6.6 update was to enable the store.

About Mac OS X v10.6.6 Update
The Mac OS X 10.6.6 Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Snow Leopard and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac. It also includes the Mac App Store, the best way to discover and buy new apps for your Mac. The Mac App Store, a new application you'll find in the Dock, includes the following features:

It was announced last autumn, and has nothing whatsoever to do with iOS (except for adopting its extremely practical and successful discovery and distribution model).

You probably allowed it when you told it to do the OS update.

So remove it... was it really necessary to create a thread about it?

If you hate apps being installed on your machine so much, read the dialogue Apple provides about what the app update entails, it's right there in Software Update.

Be sure to make a separate thread about it. This one is going to be epic...

I was trying to say what you just said but in a nice way. Wonder how many trojans he installed by clicking ACCEPT on all pop-ups. Security at it's finest...

It's because I own the patent for automatically adding graphical icons into a dock. Or is that Nokia or Motorola that owns that patent... they seem to own every other patent.

Ahh, my mistake. I thought it was the patent for the process of creating meaningless threads on a Mac forum.

Then don't read it, and don't post in it.

Necessary to create a tacky remark in it?

You're probably referring to the new Trojan App.

Just imagine all the other things you don't even see that Apple does to your machine without asking you every time you install an OS update!

Yes, you did. It was shown on the description in Software Update.

Sure. My point is only hat Apple does lots of stuff to your computer without necessarily "asking".

This thread has run its course.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
