to SyFy

Um, why? It's still pronounced the same, but why changed it? It's akin to changing the word "blue" in the dictionary to "blu". What's the point here?

SciFi wants to be thought of as "more than science fiction." To add that fantasy is part of their repertoire, they have messed with the name of the channel. Like all those Merlin movies they've aired were "hard science fiction?" I guess they think that after BSG, they don't have any science fiction material to program. Whatever. It's marketing, and that's all.

I could have sworn there was a thread about this before.

As part of Syfy's launch, the network has a new slogan -- "Imagine Greater" -- and new programming on the way. The flagship, which premieres Tuesday, is "Warehouse 13," about two Secret Service agents who explore the paranormal and supernatural. It's been described as combining elements of "The X-Files" and the Indiana Jones films.
Hmm...reminds me of another slogan.

"We've heard about this 'Siffy' thing, but very few people pronounce it 'Siffy,' " he said. "It's not something we're concerned about."
I sense a petition coming!

"One ticket to Washington, please. I have a date with destiny."
