I have to fill out a W-2 for a household employee by the end of this month (two days away) and my car isn't working so I can't get to the post office. I thought I would just go to irs.gov and download the form, but all of the 2008 W-2s I can find say "for informational purposes only, do not file". Why can't they just provide a form I can print at home (fillable would be nice)?

Can't you edit the "for informational purposes only" out with Acrobat ?

staples/officemax has taxforms that you can use with a printer otherwise you'll need to get to the post office. Like Andy said, take public transport or even a cab to the post office. Given the fact that the W2 is due saturday you don't have too much time to get the form.

My accountant brother-in-law says just use the downloaded info only form to give to the employee, so I'm going with that.
