Anyone ever used this? You need to unlock your iPhone, but that might be worth it to get better coverage than Virgin Mobile.

I use ST and love it. I was using my iPhone on T-Mobile and paying $30/month for 100 minutes talk, UL text, and UL web (2G service only though).

ST is $45/month for UL everything (web caps at 2 gigabytes). ST uses AT&T towers so I'm getting much better coverage and I was able to port my prepaid TMO number to ST.

That link is so amateur and the coverage map so vague I can't trust it.

Only GSM iPhones will work. Don't even need to be unlocked, since it's still using ATT.

Do a Google search, you'll find very long threads talking about it.

Hey- I just ordered my ST micro sim/unlimited plan for an unlocked GSM iPhone.

I'm currently using a prepaid Virgin Mobile plan with an android (terrible service/coverage).

How do I port my Virgin Mobile number to ST? Is that an option?

Also, I read somewhere MMS will not work unless I change my 'API' settings? Any direction on that would be appreciated.

Cheers!

When you go to activate the new SIM, one of the options will to port your existing number. Whether or not you can do Virgin Mobile, I don't know. I went from T-mobile prepaid to ST and it worked fine. Took about 21 hours for the port to finalize.

Go to http://www.unlockit.co.nz/unlockit/ on your iPhone and choose Straight Talk. The site will install an APN changer.

I'd be curious to know if it works for you, as I am also on virgin mobile. The reception is fine around home, but not when I travel.

Got my sim today. Ported my Virgin Mobile number which only took about an hour, then downloaded the APN changer from Gankdawg's link below. Voila!

Thanks!
