Greetings:

I did a archive and install on my 10.4.11 eMac because Safari 3.1.1 and QuickTime 1.4 problems (gotta be a better way than all this!). First, maybe by my shakey hand or because of bills, I somehow did the archive and install twice in succession, ending up with 2 previous system folders. (The second one doesn't contain any personal goodies). I also noticed that a few printer folders are now missing too (don't use a printer anyway). Happily I regularly Sync Firefox/Thunderbird separately so they weren't lost in the grand sweep-up. I dumped the library folder in the 1st Previous System folder into the "new" System folder's (blank) library one and retrieved most of my functionality. What I can't do now is Print PDFs. I really don't want another dance with archive-install and am willing to use Pacifist to replace whatever Print-PDF related files missing.

I'd really appreciate any pro hints on my my next course.

Thanks.

"Dumping" an old library folder into a current one was unnecessary and a bad idea.

Create a new user and see if PDF works for that user.

If it doesn't, then redo the archive and install, this time without the library folder inbreeding.

Was there something - a file, component, or functionality - that you needed from the old library folder?
