Thought it was just my G5 acting up, but a lot of other people with 10.4 and 10.5 are having the same exact problem.
Any solutions since it seems to update for 10.6.x and 10.7.x?
Even if you swap from 10.6.x or 10.7.x it still won't update.

Based on the same thread listed in the apple support communities I came up with a simple solution.
1. Have access to 10.6.x
2. Compress System/Library/WidgetResources
3. Replace 10.5 System/Library/WidgetResources with 10.6 System/Library/WidgetResources
4. I also swapped weather widgets from 10.5 and 10.6
should work with 10.7 since its all html and js.
and now the weather widget works (in 10.5 at least)

Crap, my wife's MacBook's having that problem. I never got around to installing Snow Leopard on her machine. And I'm running Lion on my iMac. I'll see if that solution works.

Got it to work, but I never compressed the WidgetResources folder. Just emailed that folder and the weather widget to my wife's computer. Restarted and back in business.
