I read all the criticisms of iTunes 5 and then -- in blind optimism -- went off to apple.com and downloaded it.

Fool.

It is ugly. But what I really hate is with the gloss/polish finish given to the window. It "feels" like a strain on my eyes trying to read the track info. Like trying to stare through a reflection. Why? Why the "polished glass" finish? How does it improve function? Cos it sure don't improve aesthetics.

Am I the only one bothered by this?

How long to the update?

Who will join my "eliminate the gloss finish to the iTunes 5 window" campaign?

Is there anygoing back to iTunes 4?

O, o... and there seems to be a glitch. Try this: Open song info. Go to lyrics. Type or paste in text. Select all. Delete. You will be left with little pieces of text fragments. No? Just me?

What I want from iTunes 5.0.2:

• Freely resizable cover picture window
• "Now playing" mode in cover picture window
• Gapless playback
• When I have multiple windows open (double clicked a playlist) I want to be able to play multiple songs at once. I mainly wanted to have this when browsing the store.
• Visualizer shouldn't stretch cover picture in fullscreen mode on a widescreen display

Cover picture? What is that?

By the way, my mistake: the exact pathway to the glitch is actually this:

Select a song, any song. Open track info. Go to lyrics. Type one line of text. Select by running the cursor to the end of the line of text and using "Shift" and "Upcursor." Press Delete. O the Horror... the horror... a line of little dots. No, really. Look closer.

You can click the 'change mode/triangle' button above the cover art to switch between 'selected song' and 'now playing'. Is this what you meant?

My big bug:

.mid files won't burn onto Audio-CDs! They just get 'unchecked' when I click burn. This always worked before iTunes 5.

That's reserved for bug-fixes.

Not quite. I know that there is a now-playing-mode in the album art pane of the main window. I want a now-plying mode in the separate album art window.

Using cover.jpg in the same directory as the album art.

But seriously: Is there anyway to uninstall 5, return to 4.9 and wait for 5.1 - supposing it is any better?

If your main complaint is aethetics, you'll probably have to wait for iTunes 6 for a change.

Here's one: Fix the damn XML exports so that the playlists that were assigned to folders stay where they were supposed to be.
