Getting the iChat icon off the menu bar

That nasty little icon put itself there the first time I started up iChat, and hasn't left since. I never use the thing, and it needs to leave, to give me room for AL stuff.

In iChat, choose "Preferences" from the iChat menu. Click on General, and uncheck "Show status in menu bar".

Or command-drag it off the menu bar. But I don't know if it stays that way or not.
