"Redmond, start your photocopiers"
"Redmond, we have a problem"
"Introducing Longhorn"

Shame they're keeping that ugly brushed X, but those ads are hilarious. Introducing Longhorn? Wonder what that means in terms of comparable features to Longhorn. Vectorized GUI perhaps?

I seriously love those ads. That's awesome. I wonder if Steve came up with that. If not, I'm sure he got a kick out of them.

So, is the keynote going to showcase a FCP featurette of a Siberian Tiger mauling a Longhorn Bull? Would be priceless, in a PETA-outraging sort of way...

Video of bull... voice over "introducing longhorn..."
Bull munching of grass placidly. Craps.
Tiger pounces from off camera onto bull, mauls it. Grabs bull by neck, drags it off camera.
Voice over: "And introducing OS X 10.4... Tiger."

Just a thought.
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

Another thing that has me wondwering about the Longhorn jokes. This might be another hint of Apple slowing down development of OS X, and thus Tiger wil be the version of OS X that takes on Longhorn. Apple already said they are slowing it down, and with Tiger due probably very late this year, or even next, that leaves around a year and a bit before Longhorn is out. So 10.5 probably won't see the light of day til around mid-2006.

i still think one of the most hilarious moments was when jobs made the initial comparison between panther and longhorn. you see a clip of a vicious panther walking through the jungle with jungle music ready to devour it's prey. then you got that silly longhorn with that slow old-fashioned music as it's chewing cud. i hope they do something like that again--i'd love it!

"Jobs also commented on a recent encounter with Bill Gates, where Gates said he felt Microsoft's relationship with Apple is better than ever"

And that's why they have all these "Redmond: you can't touch this" banners everywhere
