I've been using safari for awhile now, and other than the occasional annoying feature (not loading gmail, not loading my linksys router's interface webpage), it's been okay.

However, I'd say in the last month or so it started hanging a LOT when I'm searching for items on ebay. I search for an item, it works, then I refine my search or try a new one, and poof spinning beach ball of death and 80% cpu. Why?! Did ebay change something?

Is there a workaround?

It hangs here as well. I let it go one night and found that after about 2-3 minutes, it will actually go back to normal and finish the search, though good luck trying another search...that takes another 2-3 minutes to complete. :/

I am really thinking that ebay has changed something - tried firefox, it is notably slower on searches now to.

Yeah it's not just safari guys... U can't see it not work on Safari and then say it's Safari... It does the same on IE. It's been like that for over a week for me.

I use eBay with Camino like 24/24 and there's nothing wrong.

Oh well.. that was expected. Camino pretty much rocks Safari.

Which means that it isn't Ebay causing the problems....

so what's up?

well if you had the developer tools you could see where it hangs... I think... you could tinker around

but your best bet is probably Apple Feedback. Or Camino

It's the billions of lines of crappy-ass tracking JavaScript and CSS that's killing Safari. Try switching some of the "last viewed" features off too.

Dunno about anyone else but it seems to have improved over the last 2 days, for me at least. (Safari 1.2.4 v125.12)

The only way I can get rid of the eBay lag is to turn off JavaScript

You could try banging your head on the wall. Actually, that might even accomplish more than bumping a thread on a third-party support board.

Can any "testers" confirm/deny that Safari v1.3 Developer Preview and/or Safari v2.0 from Tiger is any better with the newer WebCore for this issue?

No you're not. "Doing something" would be telling both eBay and Apple about the problem.

Safari loads gmail just fine. You have to be a little patient with it.
