That Scot Bradlee band has a bunch of good ones - the Sad Clown cover of Royals a while back was pretty epic

Obviously the correct answer is Led Zep's "The Lemon Song" - the perfect cover of Howlin' Wolf's "The Killing Floor". Amirite?

Cat Power's version of I can't get no satisfaction is definitely up there. The mood of the song is the polar opposite of the original, it's hard to believe it's a cover.

"This is not a love song" by PIL as sung by Nouvelle Vague.

John Lydon's cackling stands on its own, but this version by Nouvelle Vague is positively erotic - silky smooth and lustful of big business.
Wonderfully tongue in cheek with an outrageous French accent of the female variety.

You're very welcome.

Unless it was a United supporters forum. It probably wasn't though, I bet they'd prefer something more like this:

Again not really a cover, this one is at least as bad as the other one was good.

It still loads the player and keyframe. That's some extra bandwidth.

It's a custom tag, using an iframe. I didn't want it able to load content from anywhere, so it only takes the video ID tag, and vB supplies the rest of the URL.

method, using Cap'n Tightpants video code:

Uh oh, you guys got me started on a music thread.

Modest Mouse - Sleepwalkin' (Cover of Sleepwalk by Santo & Johnny)
They Might Be Giants - Havalina (Cover of the Pixies)
The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain - Wuthering Heights (Cover of Kate Bush)
Placebo - Runnin' Up that Hill (Also a cover of Kate Bush)

Okay, so that was relatively brief. I guess I don't like a lot of covered songs.

I don't think so, but then I like Iron Maiden a lot more than AC/DC.

What's with all the bluegrass-style covers? I'm sure they're talented folks but it seems everything has a bluegrass take.

I think it's the Indie/Folk popularity in the last few years per Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, etc. Banjo and mandolin are in.
