In say Safari, you have a button with a square and an arrow going out from it. There is a "Copy" button there, which is supposed to copy the URL.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

I've had inconsistent copy performance with 8.1 on my iPad 2. Sometimes it appears I've copied stuff but pasting gives me a previous copy. Not "totally ****ed" but screwy none the less.

I'd call that "totally ****ed", especially if you've cut.

I can't seem to upgrade to iOS 8.1.1, because every time I go to install it, and after the software is extracted, after iTunes tells me to leave my iPod connected, I get a message saying a new update (8.1.1) is available... even though I just installed it... and then I try to re-install it and it goes through the whole process where I leave my iPod connected, I get a message saying a new update (8.1.1) is available... even though I just installed it yet again... and then I try to re-install it and it goes through the whole process

Edit: Aaaaand in typical Murphy's law fashion, now that I have posted this, the update is finally complete.

I've been trapped in that cycle before, and had the exact same result.

It suddenly, and without warning, fixed itself.

You never realize how much you take the clipboard for granted until it's totally tucked up.

I must say that autocorrect degraded very quickly.

When iOS 8 came out, it felt better than autocorrect in iOS 7.
Now, it's far worse. It suggests words that don't exist. Bull rap.

Edit: yeah, case in point. It changed bullcrap to bull rap. WTF ?

It was better except on the part where tapping on a suggestion gets you a space.

Then it got worse.

And still ****s up by giving you a space when you tap on a suggestion.

I actually like the OS a lot, but it's still a buggy piece of shit.

I like the space, because it will replace it automatically when you add punctuation instead.

It still does really bizarre things with dual-word combinations involving apostrophes. It's a real lottery sometimes (gee, that worked!).

No... that's not what I'm talking about.

Let's say I want to type "piece of shit".

I type "piec" and it displays "piece of shit".

I tap "piece of shit".

What gets typed is "piec ".

It doesn't fill in the word. It only types a space.

Where do you tap? The suggestion directly above the keyboard, or the bubble that appears on the text you're typing?

What you describe sounds like a weird mishmash of the expected behaviour when you tap on the bubble (which dismisses the suggestion) and the suggestions supplied in the bar directly above the keyboard (which accepts that word and adds a space)… I haven't seen this.

Sounds annoying.

Hugely annoying.

I'm only tapping the bar above the keyboard. iOS 8, so no bubble.

So, I post a post...

Darn! Someone else posted before me. I should quote the post I was referring to and paste it in! That would be swell.

I hit quote on that post, engage the text options and hit "Select All".

It selects everything, but the copy option dissapears.

Okay. Unselect everything. Re-engage the text options.... they disappear.

Sigh, okay. Unselect everything. Type a few spaces, delete them. Now it finally lets me select and copy.

Go to my post, paste in what I just copied... it's the previous thing I copied.

Long sigh, okay. Go back and hit quote on the post I want to quote. Have to go through the same bullshit over again (Select All, Copy disappears, deselect, reselect), and this time I hit Cut. Text disappears. I've cut it.

Go back to my post. Paste. It's still the same.

Yes. This is what I'd describe as "****ed up".

Yes, ****ed up is right. I just did something similar with a "confirm your identity by entering the security code we just emailed you." I couldn't get Chrome (iOS) and Mail to stay static long enough to copy the code and paste it into the form...and once I tried it, instead of a simple 8 digit code, I pasted something I'd copied and pasted yesterday. BUT I HAD JUST COPIED AND PASTED SOMETHING ELSE, so it wasn't even that I didn't actually copy what I thought I had. It's like the clipboard function isn't paying attention to when something is copied to it.

I've had a similar thing happen, which points to some type of clipboard handoff which is supposed to happen, but it's not happening.

I should also say, as much as I like to slag Apple, the extent of my issues sounds more like the need for an OS restore rather than bugs.

iPhone Mail has an annoying bug where if you call up the keyboard by tapping the lower half of the screen, it buffers the tap and executes it on the keyboard.

This morning, my iPad 2 told me that iOS 8.1.2 is now ready to install. I'm planning to do that on Saturday, and update my phone as well. I haven't had any really odd stuff happen with 8.1.1, except for the clipboard behavior we've already discussed, so I'm game to give 8.1.2 a shot.

I don't think that I can go a day without the Reminders GUI going haywire. Add a few items with two or more lines, (enough to span more than the screen), move them around, try to edit or delete a few... instant Reminder-cluster****, need to restart the whole iDevice. This all started on iOS 7, BTW. You think that iOS 8 would make it better, but it got worse.

Interestingly, from iOS 1 to iOS 7, this somehow never happened once.

Now it happens all the time.

I think the "error occurred - pager reloaded" thing happens mostly because of advertising content that's screwy. I've never seen it on anything but ad-abundant pages.

Otherwise, I'm having good experiences with iOS 8.

That jibes with what I'm seeing.

I get the impression that it's scripts that attempt to reload parts of the page, to get additional ad-views. This is something that didn't show up until fairly recently, so it's probably not related to iOS 8 itself.

Hmm... possible, but there's something fishy about them implementing the feature of it telling you, and it all the sudden starts happening regularly.

I think it's a single issue - the ad triggers a full page refresh instead of a frame or header/footer refresh. The error message doesn't seem to be new, we just see it more because of the ads and their funky coding.

What OS did the message first appear? I feel like it didn't exist before 8, certainly not before 7.

I never saw it before iOS 8. Apple always tries to improve JavaScript handling (nitro), maybe that's causing it.

It'a major PITA when you're in the middle of making a post, especially when switching between tabs. If you have'nt done a post preview, you lose it.

Last night, I added a new Reminders list to my Macbook. I was connected to the internet.

After I was done, I connected my iPod Touch (which was on standby and also connected to the internet the entire time, and running iOS 8) directly to my Macbook with the lightning cable, and I let it charge for an hour while connected. The iPod is also set to sync automatically.

I was on the road this morning with my iPod touch and I needed that list. It wasn't on my iPod when I pulled it out.

So now I would like to scream the following question, and I want it answered with an explanation.

*Screaming*

Why did my Reminders not update on my iPod?

Is anyone else having problems with the audio from videos not stopping play after the web page tab has been closed in Safari? This is latest iOS on an iPad Air 2.

For example if I open NBA.com in an existing tab and play one of their highlight replays for last night's games.....I watch it, great, then close the tab, and start viewing a new page (i.e. the next tab). The audio keeps playing. In fact as their highlights are on a queue system, it will just keep playing a video, pausing, then loading the new video.....so you just hear the audio of the video that your closed tab would be playing, except...it's closed.

Closing Safari will stop the audio entirely....but it resumes when you re-open it, just as a video would. The only way to make it stop seems to be to completely close ALL the open tabs in Safari. This also happens to other web sites, not just NBA.com, but I have not yet tested to figure out if it's only specific to a certain kind of video file, etc.

Totally bizarre. Anyone else getting this?

I only see this for a short time, and only occasionally. I don't see anything just keep playing for long after a tab is closed.

Mine definitely continues to play for as long as the video is playing, unless I close Safari or all its tabs. If the videos auto-queue like on the NBA highlights, they will continue to load indefinitely as far as I can tell.

I updated my iPad Air to 8.2 and have noted a reduction in battery life. Is anyone experiencing this in 8.2?
