Ok so three days before classes start my professor for a class I was going to take emailed me saying the class was cancelled. Now I need to register for a class to fill that spot.
After much searching and filtering, I've narrowed it down to four choices. All of these would fill general education or major requirements. Which one would you take?
#1 - Cultural Anthropology - ANTH 110 - " An introduction to the nature of culture, the organization of social relations, and the relationships between values and behavior. Attention to the human use of culture in adapting to environments and to language, technology, kinship, and religion as cultural systems. Case studies of Western and non-Western peoples."
#2 - Introductory Geology - GEOL 110 - "An introduction to the study of the Earth, examining the interdependent global systems (atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, tectosphere) that set Earth apart from its planetary neighbors. Emphasis is also placed on human participation in and perturbation of these systems. One lab per week."
#3 - Music History Survey I - MUHI 201 "A survey of Western music and introduction to the historical study of musical styles from the Middle Ages through the late 17th century."
#4 - Psychopharmacology and Behavior - PSYC 350 "An interdisciplinary examination of the ways in which behaviorally active drugs exert their effects, drawing on research in pharmacology, psychology, biochemistry, anatomy, and neurophysiology. Provides an understanding and appreciation of the role of behaviorally active drugs in people’s lives, today and in the past."

Oh dear, I've faced decisions like this for the past three semesters. How heavy is your courseload? If it is pretty heavy already, I'd consider the music history and cultural anthro class. I've taken an astronomy class (similar to the geology class) and labs are a pain in the ass. If your schedule is light, the pharmacology class sounds the most interesting and intellectually challenging.

Music history.
I would have voted the geology course, but I saw it had a lab. Most labs I have had have been badly taught and were for the most part unnecessary.
I'd stay away from the PSYC class. Sounds like a weed out course for a major.

I am heavily biased, but I must cast a vote for the music history class.

Go anthro. Having a decent understanding of human cultures is increasingly important in an increasingly globalized economy.

The only thing about cultural anthro is that it's the largest class of the four (40 students while the others are like 10-15) and also it probably has the most reading.

I graduated with an Anthro minor, and I found that the 4 Anthro classes I took where among the most insightful I ever had. Learning about the relative nature of human cultures can really open your eyes to the world. It might be a lot of work, but it’ll be worth it.

We need a few more outwardly thinking, culturally aware people in this world...soooo I'd say Psychopharmacology and Behavior.

I picked Music History -- a great idea -- but Cultural Antropology would be good too.
If you stop looking at all the ladies you might learn something too.

Anthropology. It's an interesting subject. Several of my favorite classes were anthro, actually.

It appears after talking to some seniors that Geology would be my best choice. Apparently the professor doing that class this year is really terrific.
