Google has launched its
biggest ever update for Street View for Google Maps. The new update doubles the number of special collections and gives a refreshed, updated view of over 250,000 miles of road around the globe.
Street View coverage has also been extended in countries including, the U.S, Macau, Singapore, Sweden,T hailand, Taiwan, Italy, Great Britain, Denmark, Norway and Canada.
Additionally, countries including Japan, Spain and South Africa will get special collections galleries for the first time. The special collections include panoramic scenes from famous locations including Stanley Park in Canada and Fort Canning Park in Singapore.
Google Street View represents one of Google's key service advantages over Apple. Google chairman Eric Schmidt
yesterday highlighted this during the
AllThingsD conference saying that it had invested millions of dollars in developing a comprehensive mapping solution. He suggested that Apple should have retained Google Maps as it was now finding out how hard it is to develop mapping services on a global scale.
