One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

Agreed. Sadly, it's a little too sophisticated for the majority of the viewing public. It's their loss (and unfortunately ours).

I think a lot of us where in the same boat. Not having a TV nor caring about the show, I could give a rat's ass about them. Although, Kelly is nice on the eyes.

First Name: Janus
Nickname: Janosh (only by my dad; if anyone else does it, I hate it)
MacNN Handle(s): Oisn
Age: 22 (02/10-82 - that's 2nd of October, not 10th of February)
Profession: Student
Greatest achievements: Can't think of any 'great achievements'...
Fav music: Lots, pretty much everything except country, 'dansktop', and really hard heavy/death/acid/etc. metal.
Fav music group or person: Lots. At the moment Sigur Rs, efterklang, Gte, and a billion others.
Listening to now: Was listening to Gte ~10 mins. ago, now nothing.
Fav TV show: Lota, but probably Keeping up Appearances at the very top. And Six Feet Under.
Fav Movie: Don't know. LOTR perhaps.
Fav food: Chinese and Italian (am a vegetarian).
Fav drink: Milk, chocolate milk, orange juice, milk shake/smoothie.
Fav alcoholic Beverage: None. Everything that has even an infitesimal amount of alcohol in it is utterly undrinkable to me, which is also the reason why I've never been drunk in my life.
Fav book: Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, anything by Agatha Christie.
Superman or Batman? Both are fairly idiotic, and both wear their underwear on the outside. Not a big comic/cartoon fan, apart from the classical Disneys.
Kelly, Ruben or Fantasia: Have no idea, could very possibly not care less, wouldn't know who they were if I hadn't read this thread through before replying.
Rock star or Billionaire: Rock star and billionaire, of course.
Believe in aliens: Yes. In a universe as vast as this one, it's just too far a stretch for me to think that only on this one little planet were the necessary conditions present to make possible some form of life.
Believe in ghosts: Not in the tradition 'haunting ghosts' way, but yes, believe in something like that. I think.
Car: None. Don't have a driver's license (and don't plan on getting one anytime soon).
Computer: Vega+ P4 2,0 GHz notebook + an old crappy stationary one that I never use (I think it's a Pentium 166 or something, with 32 MB of RAM and 4 GB hard drive).
Mac: None yet , but am (still) saving up for a 15" PB...
Deep dark secret: I don't keep (my own) secrets. And I've never done anything that was bad/horrible enough that I had to keep it a secret.
Secret aspiration: None, that's one of my main problems.
Dream car: Don't really have a dream car per se (see 'Car'), but really like Audi A6/A8 and most Mercs and Beamers.
Sexuality: Gay (first one in the entire thread apparently).
Relationship status: Excruciatingly single.
Height: About 1.82-1.83, I think.
Weight: A little too much, about 83 kg.
Gender: Male.
Religion: None, though technically speaking, I think I'm still a member of the Church of Denmark. Don't believe in any of it, though.
Role model: Hmm, tough one. I think I'd have to say Yangzi, my former flatmate. He's 18, he's been doing hard physical labour since he was about 10, he works God knows how many hours a day, and he still managed to always keep a positive outlook on life and be happy.
Yearly income: Don't really have one due to lack of job. Get about 75,000 DKr (about 13,500 USD) this year in 'SU' (education grant) from the government, but that's basically it.
Cat or dog person? Dog person, definitely. I don't mind cats, but I never feel completely safe and comfortable around them.
Indoor or outdoor personality? I like being outside, but still more indoor personality, I think.
Do you consider yourself a geek? A computer geek? No, but most other people do. A language geek? Most absolutely and irrevocably yes.
Ethnicity: Danish, with a few bits and splats of Swedish and Dutch (and probably some other stuff too, but that's too far out).
Interesting fact: I have a Robert [Danish film award - scroll down a little for info] standing in my bookshelf, which I inherited from my maternal grandfather, who was the creator and special effects designer on a lot of very famous (in Denmark) movies, among others the Olsen Banden series.
MacNN'ers in cell phone: Just myself.
Disability/allergies: I used to be highly allergic to pretty much anything artificial, like preservatives, colouring agents, all that stuff. Thankfully, I grew out of it around 13 or so.

Fav authors: David Sedaris, Douglas Coupland, Steven Pinker, Ayn Rand, Terry Pratchet, Carl Sagan, J.K. Rowling, Frank Herbert, Noam Chomsky, Richard Dawkins, George Orwell, Oscar Wilde.

Superman or Batman? Batman. You should've seen me on the first day of kindergarten, all decked out in Batman everything, and I mean everything.
Kelly, Ruben or Fantasia: As with 'The Apprentice,' I don't watch the show, but I respect it in that it values competition. ability, and market viability.
Rock star or Billionaire: Either, but only if I have earned it through hard work.
Believe in aliens: I want to believe. I lend no credence to the drunken tales of hillbillies or the equally intoxicated ramblings of Erich von Daniken. I believe in aliens as much as I believe in the Drake Equation.
Believe in ghosts: No, neither do I believe in psychics, spirits, numerology, telekenisis, the medical claims of chiropractors, etc...
Car: 2003 Mercury Mountaineer.
Computer: 933mhz Pentium III (WinXP, Firefox, Thunderbird, iTunes.)
Mac: 12" Powerbook, until it was stolen last week. My first Mac was a Performa 6220CD. After that I had a Beige desktop G3.
Deep dark secret: I burned my Selective Service card the day I got it. And I yearn to burn my Social Security card. Also, I made a $25 bet on when The Pope will die.
Secret aspiration: Become an ambassador to Europe and maybe eventually have a family. I'd love to write and direct my own full-length movie, even if it's just for fun.
Dream car: A DeLorean. Failing that, a bio-diesel Mercedes would suit me just well.
Sexuality: Gay
Relationship status: I have the cutest Thai boyfriend.
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 140 lbs.
Gender: Male.
Religion: None. I believe humanity is best off without it. I find proselytizing offensive.
Role models: Every scientist who has been persecuted, every man who has been burned at the stake for heresy, those who ask 'why?' and question tradition, anyone who has not stood idly by, people who care enough about other people to read the pamphlets they're handed, conscientious objectors, Amnesty International founder Peter Benenson, food geneticist and humanitarian Norman Borlaug, the bullsh*t-exposing Penn & Teller, the rugged individualism of Ayn Rand.
Yearly income: Any change I find on the street and dividends from my shares of stock. But mostly street change.
Cat or dog person? Cats. I love short haired the most, and I pass up no opportunity to pet and squeeze them until my eyes are clawed out. I hate the musical though.
Indoor or outdoor personality? I love traveling, so in that regard I'm an outdoor person. I play golf and enjoy European soccer, but I'm not a sports fan.
Do you consider yourself a geek? I'm going to quote Oisn on this, "A computer geek? No, but most other people do. A language geek? Most absolutely and irrevocably yes."
Ethnicity: I usually leave this blank on everything official and unofficial. But I'm white, with backgrounds from Ireland, England, German, and the Cherokee Tribe.
MacNN'ers in cell phone: Only myself and that of a lounge lurker.
Disability/allergies: I'm ADD and allergic to (*sigh* gotta look up how to spell it) Penicillin. I used to have Hyperhydrosis/Facial Blushing and some social anxiety which would result, but I've almost completely grown out of it.

Come on, now? You know there were no *Americans* here until them good folks on the Mayflower showed up.

PS--Props on your spelling of Haudenosaunee? I usually call them Kanhawake but first learned of them as the Mohawks growing up in school. Are you native, by any chance?
One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.

Any Lakota? Dinee? Haudenosaunee?

psht... i am technically asian

but f*ck that, the culture annoys me. i consider myself american in the sense i was born here, it's what accurately describes me and what i identify with. i don't care about that whole "indian" fiasco crao back in the 1800s. technically europeans and everybody else are from Africa right? so who decides how far back in time we go? if i could have my way, i'd be a "New Yorker".
