So, since My possessions were in storage while the house was repaired (Washing machine cold water hose burst, ruining flooring, baseboard and drywall) I was living out of a gym bag for 3 months. NO TOYS. So I stopped by a local hobby shop and picked up one of those small RC Helicopters. Not a cheap 3 channel "Mall copter" but a 4 channel one. I've learned to fly it around the house and even outside in light to non-existent winds. Its a Blade MSR. costs $125 RTF.
Its fun, clean, and develop new eye-hand skills. Last month, I bought a larger 4 channel variant called the Blade 120 SR. Better outside, but bigger means more inertia. Now I'm looking at a Blade 450 X. I can poke someones eye out with that machine. Its 6 channel, and will do aerobatics and fly upside down. Fun Hobby!

I take both are of these 2 larger ones are electric? How long can you fly them? How long are rotor blades on the Blade 450 X?

Yep. All of them are electric. Smallest(msr) flys about 8 minutes on the stock battery, and about 12 minutes on the after-market one. The Blade 120 SR flys about 6 minutes with the stock battery and about 8 minutes with the aftermarket LiPo. Both the MSR and the SR120 have aftermarket swashplates and the MSR also has carbon fiber gear.

The Blade 450 has a main rotor span of 28.4" I'm looking at that one as a camera platform.

The only problem is the initial set-up. I have heard of screwing around to get the balance right for several hours. With a little helicopter you can hover over the fish baloon and basically ground it! Bwa-ha-ha-ha!
