Yet another imgur gif I’m having trouble embedding.

Finally!
I don’t know what the deal is. There are at least a half-dozen things I’ve tried to post to this thread which haven’t embedded. I swear I’m good for more than just exploding planes and car crashes.

I can't speak to imgur GIFs, but I think I solved the YouTube-embed problem. Our YT embeds were using plain http, and browsers didn't like to display it, if you visit us via https. Changing the YT embed code to https fixed the issue. Even when browsing via http.

I think Imgur serves up m4a, gifv, and gif, and I think only the gifs embed.
Whatever the case, since this thread was started I feel like I got 5 ‘splodeys to work for that one duck.

Is this still an issue, or has the Poke'man Go craze died down?

I think people are still playing, but no one is rushing around.

It was never as big as the hysteria on your Facebook feed made you believe it was.
Pokemon is, however, the highest-grossing media franchise of all time, beating out even Star Wars by a large margin ($59B to $42B).

I loved it, not the game, but seeing a bunch of adult nerds, young kids, couples, entire families, etc... playing PokemonGO. There's an old Fort on the water down the street from here, it had many gyms and lots of water types, the place was packed with people every day. Some folks complained they were making a mess, but once the town brought a couple porta-potties and some trash cans everything was fine. Considering it's a historic site they should have had those amenities from the beginning. The crotchety-types complain kids stayed indoors and played videogames, and then when they all emerged to hang out (quite peacefully I might add) they got yelled at too. Yet more "those damn millennial" fist-shaking from the boomers.

Among the many things which makes Pokémon deserve its popularity is it’s always required live, human interaction.

I'm pretty sure there was a cable that connected both Gameboys together so you could trade Pokemon, not sure what iteration of the machine it first appeared on.

The cable was available when Pokemon was released, and the original game required it for trading.

Friday goodness. Every once in awhile, XKCD really works for me.
Latest CAPTCHA on machine learning:
Be sure to get all the correct squares. Actually, if this really happened, any CAPTCHA answer would be accepted.
