I have an iMac FP 800 w/superdrive. Having problems with the superdrive. When I load a blank dvd-rw it mounts fine. As soon as I copy files to it and reload it, it does not mount anywhere to read it. If I open vpc it reads it right away and if I put it in my iBook it mounts the disk with no problems. (wow, I used 'it' nine times).

This will happen with dvd-r's as well. I've used Apple, Memorex and CompUsa with same problems. The only way I can eject them is if I open DragonBurn and eject from within the program.

Are there other media types you are using? I've done all the zapping, reinstalling I can handle. That is all that Apple has suggested other than lugging to a service center.

I've burned about a dozen DVDs on my 800; no problems. I've used the CompUSA discs, and the Apple ones, which are all I'm using now.

Did you change anything else; install software? What are you burning these in?

You might also want to verify and repair disk permissions.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?
