Ech, if you've played Civ III you probably know that your game ends by the year 2,000. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? It really angers me...

The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it always to be kept alive.

You can continue playing - you just won't accumulate any further score.

On higher difficulty levels the game lasts longer. Not a lot longer, but an extra 25 years per level I think.
So on "prince" level, you get until 2050.
Actually this isnt exact but it definitely works this way, I just cant remember how many years per difficulty level.
If you only get 2000 years, you must be playing on chieftan. Try a harder level - its awesome, if a little frustrating.
I usually play on prince, which is the middle level.
