The company wrote back to me today with a plain answer to my question if it would work under OS X (I specified I did not care about the dongle, just the mouse):
"No it will not work."
Does anyone know why it would not since it supports the HID profile?

If it supports the Bluetooth HID profile, it'll most likely work on OS X... company spokespeople who say otherwise likely don't know and are hedging their bets by saying no. (If they didn't know and said yes, they'd have to deal with unhappy customers accusing them of broken promises.)

The Targus Bluetooth mouse works fine with my MPB. The only leeeeetle kvetch is that you can't see the battery level like you can with some nicer bluetooth peripherals.
