I had just purchased a spanking new 1.25Ghz PB.
As i tried to hijack my neighbour's wireless base station, to my horror i could not receive a signal.
Most of my friends in office are using the ibook, some even on PCs...they seems to have no problems receiving a clear signal......
That sets me thinking is the new Powerbooks not as receptive as compared to an ibook?
Anyone can confirm this theory, or is it juz my book and extreme card?
Do PB generally have shorter ranges?
I am really dissappionted.....

I work at a TV station and in the coference room I get a full signal along with all the other PC users but in the studios and other locations, they get a great signal and I get nothing.

Poorer airport reception has always been an issue with the metal powerbooks. The Ti had notoriously poor range. The AlBook's is better but still inferior compared to the iBook or a Wintel laptop with a PCMCIA card.
It's my one true gripe with my 'book. I hate going to a place w/ a hotspot to do a little creative work outside the house only to find my reception sucks.. that and the battery life, but the battery issue can be worked around.

The PB's 70 AirPort really should work without having to fork out another $50 and having a lump sticking out the side of your 'book...

An additional question: If the stub antenna is purchased for $49.95, is the Exernal removable Whip antenna included at that price as well (as it is mentioned under the Parts section in that ad)? Or does purchasing the stub antenna require that one also purchase the Whip?

I spoke with a tech from quickertech today and he said that the stub antennas were going to be discontinued. He cleared up my confusion on how the antennas worked. You can either use the stub or the whip, but you do not need both.
