For sale is a 5-month old Powerbook.

Details:
*17-inch display with 1680x1050 resolution
*1.67GHz PowerPC G4 processor
*1GB RAM (DDR2 PC2-4200 SDRAM at 333MHz, 2x512 MB DIMMS)
*120GB 5400rpm hard drive
*Slot-load 8x SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
*ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics card with 128MB DDR memory
*Full-size, backlit keyboard
*Gigabit Ethernet, Airport Extreme
*USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 & 800
*all factory original software and packaging, including Tiger OS DVD (10.4.3, I believe)
Machine purchased November 2005, does not have AppleCare

Asking $2000 USD+ shipping, preferred payment method would be Paypal, will also accept money order. I'm really not interested in any full or partial trades for the Powerbook-the big reason I'm selling this is due to me losing my job and needing to make sure I can pay bills until I find something new. The Powerbook has left my apt. ONCE since being out of the box and is in near-mint condition-no scratches, dents, or dead pixels.

If there are any questions about the powerbook, please email me.

Thanks [Smile]

UPDATE: 5/19/06 post-price drop-$1800 USD
UPDATE: 6/5/06 post-price drop; now asking $1600 in cash or PC laptop-plus-cash value

Bump for feedback-I based the price I'm asking off of the cost of refurbed 17" hi-res models from the Apple store (stock model at $1999 which has only 512 MB RAM) and from the listings on PowerbookCentral (new at around $2200)

There is some negotiating room here

One last bump before the weekend; if there are no hits on the Powerbook as of Monday morning, I'll be placing it on Ebay.

I'd go to eBay, I just sold my 15" Rev E with all options for $2000, way more than what I was expecting. I also just sold a stock 17" Rev D. for $1650...that would be the place to go.

I would recommend NOT putting your serial number up there...

Really?

Usually I get asked that constantly by bidders on past auctions, as proof that the auction isn't a fraud.

You have me curious now-is there a reason you're recommending not posting it?

There are just some weird people out there who can try to do things with serial numbers. That being said, I've never had anyone on eBay ask me for a serial number. I've sold about 4 or 5 Powerbooks in the last year and a half. If ACTUAL pictures, a courteous and timely reply, feedback, and a legitimate description isn't enough for them...screw em. At the very least, X out a few of the digits...like the first 4-5 or so.

i also recommend not posting it. serial numbers are very good for checking out how much applecare is left. you can take a screenshot and blur the area where it says your serial number.

also, there are some websites that give you more information based on the serial number. a good example is the current macbook pros. depending on when they were made, they have certain characteristics. I don't know off the top of my head the name of the site, but i know they do provide some extra info.

you can always ask "why" they want the serial number, and you can post screenshots of whatever website, without giving away your serial number.

another big thing is that fraudulent people try to get serial numbers to try to make their auction more legitimate.

Bump: will consider some PC laptops (P4-M, 'Centrino' laptops, and AMD Turion-64) + cash in trade for this laptop.
