Freaking Norway. I went out to eat and paid $15 for my (very good) burger and $18 for my (also very good) beer.

I’m actually surprised how affordable Illinois is.
It’s EUR 0.823, whichever would rank it among the cheaper European countries.
However, the avg. “quality” of the beer is another matter.
I assume that the avg. price is heavily influenced by alcoholic soft drinks (all the different light varieties).

I have a small knife collection, and they’re all titanium so I don’t have to worry about rust.
Titanium blades, too? I thought titanium was a bit too soft for blade material. At least for kitchen knives anyway......something specialised?

The two I have are “combat folders”, so I guess you could call them specialized.
I don’t knife people, usually, so they’re both still pretty sharp.
For “daily carry”, I get something cheap and let it rust.

Top two are my “collection”. The bottom one is what I actually carry for work, which gets mostly used for cutting rope.

Not soft. But Ti alloys don't hold up well to shear stresses, and are prone to sudden catastrophic failure. This is due to the introduction of other elements, such as oxygen, into the lattice.

Yeah, there is a lot to like about Norway, but that's not one of it.
Even if you go to a grocery store, alcohol is just crazy expensive.

Tennessee and New York pay more for a case of beer than we here in Texas do! I know that's an aggregate number and is probably liberally laced with SWAGs, but I have to wonder if there is better LOCAL beer in either Tennessee or New York than in Texas. I know they don't have a local equivalent of the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, TX. Because there is only one Shiner, TX.

Anybody read Tim Powers’ The Drawing of the Dark?
It’s the Citizen Kane of occult historical fiction revolving around beer.

Ahhhh. Yeah, for higher-end kitchen knives there are lots of high-carbon steel variants in the low-60s rockwell, and some of those stainless powdered steel alloys that are a little above that (I have one and they’re def not as easy to sharpen as carbon steel—but I’ve never seen much titanium.
