Too bad they're running off a PC.

Still nice, though. Must be loaded!

I'm sorry, but was that a floppy drive in one of the pictures? All that gorgeous screen real-estate hooked to something with a floppy drive? That's like having an outhouse behind your mansion. Well, I suppose you can buy top of the line gear and still have no taste.

Cheers!

Kinda makes you wonder if you can have too much screen estate on a desktop... still, it's a slick setup. I wonder why they didn't wait for the 30" screens...

That's an interesting looking amplifier to the right of his setup. What's with the silver things on top that look like chess pieces?

The guy has got to be into SciFi - look at that chair.
You could use that setup for Star Trek.

It definitely looks like a "hey, look at my cool setup" setup rather than a productive workstation. I think that kind of real-estate can be used very well in a production setting. That just looks like a play room. A very nice playroom, but a playroom nevertheless.

Not to me. Notice the office phone system? And the amp? This is an audio or video production workstation IMO.

Doubtful.

Audio and video would imply *something* in the way of decent monitoring.

Logitech desk speakers do not qualify, and a tube amp and a pair of headphones do not an A/V pro make.

Actually, the chair is modeled after sports cars seats. Ricaro is a company that is most well known for making car seats.

It`s spelled Recaro.
Anyway - reminds me of the chairs in Star Trek TNG.

3 observations:

1. Dual 23" - way cool
2. Almost the entire thread is people bitching about how the guy must be spoiled, wastes his money, etc.
3. Thank god for MacNN's sig guidelines.

No, it's the guys foot, with a sock on.
Just you I guess. Prefer White-Tack, myself.

Although maybe the sock is made out of Blu-Tack.
Interesting.

I'd love to hook my 12 inch PB to one of those puppies

That said, those are some ugly wall mounts from behind. Fortunately the user wouldn't often see them... if I had em I'd at least spray paint em.

Oh and that PC... can we say Mac envy?

I agree if makes for a very nice looking setup. A great chair also.

Naa, it's a poser system.

The comments are pretty funny though:

Who cares, the guy is either...

1. A spoiled little kid or,
2. A rich loser with no life, and no friends, and especially no girlfirend/wife - because they would never allow something like that.

I prefer my mediocre setup with the substantially better life that comes with it.

You use the expression "that said" in almost every single post you make (a lot of posts, I might add). That said, you make a good point about the ugly wall mounts. I suspect (another of your favs) we'll see a niche market emerge catering to the discerning mac users who care about optimal ergonomics, as well as a coordinated industrial design effort. You don't usually see the back, but then again, you don't usually see the back of most apple products, but they always look great.

Boy was that cube a PITA to plug stuff into, though.

I was under the impression that the 30" only worked on a mac and you needed that special duel DVI video card to hook it up. The only nice part of the whole thing is the monitors everything else is cheap flimsy plastic

It's a dual 23" setup ... these don't need special graphics card
