No, I think he meant that Björk lives in NYC.

If you find her, let us know.

P.S. Have you ever tried to listen to Hyper-ballad on iBook speakers? Ish.

voodoo lives in Spain, Iceland and Norway. I don't know where he is now. He goes to a university in one of those places.

So in Iceland they are all related to each other and they marry each other? I heard something like this somewhere. Or do they allow an Icelander to get married to an outsider like me for example? Oh, is Bjork married?

She may have an apt in NYC but that doesn't mean she lives there all the time. If I were her I would live in Iceland more. But I can ask her that once I talk to her.

EDIT: added sense

I agree. I was just clarifying for AKcrab since it seemed like he read Spheric's post as a statement that voodoo lived in NYC.

There is an absolutely gorgeous b&w nude of her in a rainforest somewhere, covering the bare necessities with a couple of large leaves. Unfortunately, I have yet to find it on the web.

No so very tragic to me, since I have the poster hanging in the living room, right above the turntable...

Edit: actually found the image online this time: http://landemoo.com/Leaves.jpg

The only version I have is

Hyperballad (Massive Attack Slow Jungle Mix)

Pretty cool.

Nothing was cooler than watching her deck that reporter(?) on video.

Yep.

Bangkok airport, some time in the early/mid-90s.

She was going out with Goldie at the time, and the reporters were all after her when she arrived. She wasn't up for talking at all and referred them all to the press dates the following day. And then they started going after her son.

So she freaked.

"I'm very certain in my head about what's private and what's professional," she asserts. "I have only once let people take photos of my son, and that was a friend of mine who came to Iceland and I actually quite regret doing that.

"In Bangkok, 40 people turned up with massive cameras at the airport after a long flight, and this woman is doing a live broadcast for millions of people. I tried to deal with it as gracefully as I could, just saying I was sorry that I was tired. But this woman just wouldn't give up and she said (adopts sarcastic tone), Ooh, she obviously hasn't got any time for us because she's got more important things to do, and we've come all this way because we love her music so much.

"I ignored it. I decided it was her problem. So she went for my son, who was nine years old. She goes, Oh, it must be so difficult to be the son of a lady so full of herself that she won't give me an interview. She put the microphone on him, and I can hardly remember what I did. I was just thinking, You touch my son and you're dead! I'm not proud of it at all, but something snapped."

And you beat the **** out of her. On reflection, did the reporter deserve such a battering?
"I don't know. I don't believe in punishment like that, but we're both human. She jumped to the conclusion that she had a licence to behave in a certain way - and I jumped to the conclusion that I had a licence to behave in a certain way, and we clashed. We probably both figured out we were wrong. That's it, really."

You can find the video on most any P2P app.

She did a lot of artsy nude work in the videos for Vespertine too.

theres a couple songs on there that i skip past, but i like most of them. the disappointing part is how much of it got sent through a synthesizer instead of the original idea i had of it which was all real acapella sounds. ohwell. still cool. the rahzel stuff is sweet.

i like to listen to bjork on laptop speakers too. IIRC, she said at some point that vespertine was made at a point when she was infatuated with her powerbook speakers.

I don't know. Was the original idea for acapella? I just thought the idea was all voices, leaving wide open her electronic twist she gives to everything.

Since I think I was the only other one to mention laptop speakers I assume you were talking to me. By "ish" I meant "ugh" or "yuck." But I was talking specifically about Hyper-ballad. With that low bass, the tiny iBook speakers do it no justice at all.

Try with the Icelandic version instead - as far as I know, it only exists in a live recording, and that hardly has any bass at all

Also, can anyone explain to me why the bass on Verandi only comes out in headphones, never in loudspeakers? When played in loudspeakers, the song always sounds like it has a very weak bass-line, but in headphones, the bass is quite powerful. Sort of the same thing happens with the Interval Mix of Vsur Vatnsenda-Rsu...

What version? The one on Post? I love that one. I think she must be a very peculiar character, I'd like to talk to her, too. I also like Immature (Homogenic) and Army Of Me (Post) a lot. If I miss my gf, I listen to Aeroplane.

Vatnsenda Rsa is an ancestor of mine

Most famous poem by her:

Auga mitt og auga itt,

Trega eg ig manna mest

Langt er san s eg hann,

mest af lum bar hann.

Engan leit eg eins og ann

Einn gu veit eg elskai hann
af llum reit mns hjarta.

 a kali heitur hver,

She spends some of the year in Iceland mainly cause she likes being there. She was wanting to send her kid to a Montessori school in Hafnarfirdi, Iceland, but don't think she did in the end.

It's the part time thing. She wants her son to be in touch with his father and keep the Icelandic identity so she tries to come here as often as she can.

it probably was her intention to synth everything. i just thought it mildly disappointing to what i thought it was going to be. just voices.

i think i made a thread about how much i like my laptop speakers. i think its just a weird thing for me.

I saw her with the sugarcubes as well in nyc in the early nineties -wasn't a fan but I fell in love with her that night. She was awesome on stage!

But then kinda got sick of her post Dancer in the Dark - mainly Lars Von Trier's fault.

But that didn't last...

I saw her on the Post tour, and again on 9/11/2001, on the Vespertine tour (with choir, orchestra, and Matmos on electronics), in Stuttgart.

The 9/11 show was just...beyond.

(If anybody has sourced a recording of that specific show, I'd kill for a copy.)

Edit: ^^ That might actually be something worth asking her about, Logi!

I think she is constantly speaking to my inner being. There is too much sea clutter on the surface. I would like to meet her to really find out what she was getting at in her songs. I feel there is a message in there for me in all of her songs and it is addressed to me I am sure of that. I could be her soulmate she has been looking for.....

I see both yours and mine as the proper character. If you switch to UTF-8, you should be able to see it correctly too. I see most others as the "o" missing completely because they are using a different encoding. That's what sucks about the forums. There is no standard encoding.

You know what? You suck. I would have killed to see the Sugarcubes, but meh, Texas. There was a 120 minutes episode MTV ran for a while of a Sugarcubes show, and I saw it twice. Loved it. That first album of theirs is still on my iPod. Fantastic stuff, and produced by the bass player from Gentle Giant. I love the talking guy, and the fact that nothing at all rhymes. And yes, Bjork is quite the babe.
