The white plastic "shield" on the rear of my Mac Mini (where the ports are) sticks out a bit past the metal case. Can anyone check their Mac Mini to see whether the corner of the shield closest to the power button sticks out past the casing? Run your finger along it. Is the plastic flush with the metal?

I took my Mac Mini apart to clean it, and as I was putting it together, I noticed this when I snapped the cover on top of it. I can't remember whether this defect was always there, or whether it was my fault.

I've heard of one other guy having this problem. I think it's probably the glue breaking down with the heat or something. I suspect Apple would fix it for you.

When you put your Mini back together did you put the front side on first and "rock" it back/down to match up the back side? The reason I ask is that in the 12 or so times that I've had mine apart I learned that things line up much better (although it seems counter-intuitive) to drop the back side down first and then rock it forward/down to get the front lined up. The reason is that there is a bit of a channel that needs to line up betwen the white backplane (where the vents & ports are) and the back of the lid. If you reassemble from front to back, you are trying to mate the two pieces at an angle causing you to possibly miss the groove and the back part with stick ou a bit.

Sorry if that was completely confusing. It's a bit hard to describe. lol

I think I know what you mean -- and I'll try that. Thanks.
