I bought a used Pismo from a friend, and I've had nothing but trouble with it.

I've reset the PRAM, re-installed Tiger twice, run AHT and TechTool Pro (passed w/ flying colours), and the usual routine. Sometimes it panics during the user profile loading, sometimes it panics just with regular use, but most often, it panics/freezes when coming out of sleep. I managed to snag this panic log:

Code:

The hard drive is perfectly fine (did a thorough bad-sector test), so basically I'm suspecting either the logic board or the RAM -- but both did pass AHT/TechTool. There is currently 384 MB of RAM in the laptop (128 + 256), and I've ordered a 512 MB SODIMM which should arrive this week.

What do you guys/gals think? Any hope for this Pismo?

I think you're right - bad ram or logic board. Let us know when you get the ram how it goes.

My mom got a PowerBook G3 (Pismo) a few years ago. We were having similar problems. We were afraid it was a bad buy (ebay). Tech Tool Pro cleared it, however. We also reinstalled the operating system, reformatted the hard drive. The pesistent disk corruption made me suspect the hard drive at first.

Removing the added RAM stopped the panics and relating disk corruption (mostly with permissions), although it did run slow as molasses and sounded like it was thrashing it's brains out with all the paging to the disk. It ceased to panic. If that stops your problem, the new memory should be a vast improvement.
